Ayame Iizumi

Painter & Artist

Born with very sensitive mind and body. She grew up in an environment where gods and Buddhas blended into her life, coming into contact with the vast nature of Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture. For Ayame, "life" was both ephemeral and the connection with everything, and it was something that would last forever.

After the Great East Japan Earthquake, "being alive now" has become irreplaceable. I walked in the mountains of Japan and the world in search of strong real feeling and conviction. At one point she encounters a life-changing shock. Ayame stood on the summit of Kilimanjaro. The morning sun was risen. It was the murderous and intense sunlight that came directly through the clear air. The outline of life burned into her soul. She soon became an artist and began to painting by self-taught.

The production begins with listening to small changes deep inside the mind and body. While drawing, She is guided by many impressions. The sense of unity between the heartbeat and oxygen, which is full of anxiety and expectations, is transformed into the swell and jump of paint. The sense of unity betweenThe courage, the ground and the body is transformed into an uneven texture. The hope and conviction felt in the sunlight is transformed into a clear contrast of colors.

Ayame's work expressed by paintings and words is clear and dynamic. Ayame calls her creation a "gift for life". It is a gratitude for all the connections she have felt on her journey to the top of the "now" and a pray for the moment when the sun today illuminates a life.
